Dear Mr. Frost,

Thank you for your letters of the 4th and 5th inst., and for kindly telling me about the funeral arrangements, and also of the circumstances of J's family. I am very sorry indeed for Mrs. but really I do not see that the Society can provide for her future. We have as much as we can do to feed and clothe our large family and even then our income is insufficient during many months of the year. Is there a branch of the Charity Organisation Society in the neighbourhood as if so perhaps they could be approached with a view to assisting her. Also the Guardians ought really to assist by giving outdoor relief, but of course I do not expect they will do so all the time Mrs. as the money left her by her late husband. They will naturally expect her to spend that first before applying for outside
