Dear Sir

In reply to yours of 19th inst. I feel sure it would be decidedly against this child's interests to be returned to her home again. The mother has been "on the drink" for several days at a time, at frequent intervals since the child left, and only last week she was rushing about the city with her clothes above her head when in a drunken state. The poor fellow appealed to me only last week to help him to get a separation, which of course I have no power to do. Mr. Clark (with myself) is unanimously in favour of my opinion as above expressed and thinks it would be well if the child could be placed elsewhere and all letters to & fro part through your office. The man says his sister will take the child, but she lives in the lowest quarter of our city. I have this day confessed with Rev. Canon Ripley Earlham Hall Norwich who was formerly Vicar of
