Dear Miss Peter,
re A.

Many thanks for your letter of the 23rd Inst. I have this morning heard from the Secretary of the Surgical Aid Society, and he has favourably considered my application to be allowed to collect "Letters" on behalf of this lad. In the first instance, however, he requires a Doctor's certificate and careful measurements as to the cork leg required, as per enclosed forms. May I, therefore, ask you to be so kind as to have the certificate carefully and accurately filled in, and returned to me? The Society must, of course, be responsible for the Doctor's fee, if he is obliged to make a charge. On receiving the certificate I will forward it to the Secretary, and I hope he will then give the required permission. I may mention that, after the "Letters" have been obtained, the Surgical Aid Society will give the order for the leg to their London makers, where the price will probably be considerably less than that charged by a local instrument maker.

Hoping/
