Dear Miss Stancliffe
re L

Many thanks for your letter of the 6th, inst. Do you really consider the above-named girl in the Home recommended by the National Association for the Feeble Minded? I understand stat the payment would be required during the whole of L's life, so that it would be a very heavy undertaking to be responsible for her maintenance. The best method of dealing with the case seems to be to hand over the girl to the Local Board of Guardians, who will then decide as to her place of settlement, and she would no doubt be placed in a suitable institution supported by Poor law Authorities. I am afraid that otherwise the Guardians will not be inclined to recognise their responsibility. Thanking you for all the kind trouble you are taking in the matter
