Description:

In 1892 M., aged 7, appeared before the Stockport Court for stealing a horse and other items. M's father had quite a good income as a milk dealer, but he was a gambler and his wife was an alcoholic. The children were not looked after well. M. was committed under the Industrial Schools Act to the Regent's Park Boys Home in London until he was 16. This home was not run by the Society.
