Illness and disability. The healing swimming pool at St Nicholas' Hospital. Hidden Lives Revealed Print this page Close this window *
Water has been for many years seen as having therapeutic properties. Many of the Society's Homes for sick children had hydrotherapy pools for the children which would help strengthen their muscles. Those children who needed wheelchairs or callipers would be able to have a sense of freedom in the water that they couldn't have on dry land. Of course, splashing about was also great fun!
