A the eldest child of her Father's first wife [?] on his second marriage left in charge. I her grandmother M in St. Thomas' Street Wells. M daughter L a girl of 17 living with her mother bore a child & made away with it, assisted by her unfortunate niece, Mrs. [?] the widow was discovered, was the chief witness [?] her acct. the child is well spoken of by the Masters of St. Thomas's school as being truthful well behaved and intelligent. She has been detained in Shepton Mallet prison for two months until the Assizes which take place on May 9th. It is most important that a [?] should be found for her before that time as a return to her grand mother would subject her to a most injurious influence. The grand father has been paralyzed & bedridden for some time past
