be better for her to go straight to some one of your Country Homes under a good but strict matron. for some months, till she has earned a character to make it possible to send her to service. I have kept before her that her just duty is to repay all her thefts with her just wages. She has a written statement of her debts. She is a handy useful little girl. & her "service" outfit is almost ready. & had spent a good deal upon it beyond what the Society provides. & our servants had been helping her to make it. Excuse this long letter but I wanted you to be able to [?] [fully] of the case it has taken us so wholly by surprise &
