Home of the Holy Child
Highgate Street
Birmingham
June 4th 1886

Dear Sir

Yesterday afternoon I went to make enquiry about J. & learnt the following particulars. He lives not exactly at Heath Street, Birmingham, but on the back of. I found a young woman, his wife & a young child - they have been married two years, he not quite 21 - one two or three mostly younger. He is a 'machinist' by trade, which means employment in making of machines. As he was at work then, he walked in to see me in the evening. he seems a very steady & quick young man, rather shy & bashful compared with most young men here, giving the impression of a higher class of mind & tone
