Case 3326

1. Application to Waifs and Strays' Society 28 September 1892

View the Case Summary.

Mrs. [?] will adopt F
work now very bad
[-ings] not known but they help to support on av 25/ the mother to support the mother give a home to the mother

The case of M is a particularly sad one. Her husband, who was a weaver was useful in the town & acted for several years as Secretary of the Weavers Sports Committee. He had delicate health, & in consequence of [loss] of time through illness & the expense of a large family, was unable to save sufficient money to make provision for them after his death. He belonged to two Benefit Clubs, from which his widow has received a few pounds. She is now almost entirely dependent on the assistance of friends; & they are not able to support her entirely - only two of the children are able to work & they earn only very low wages - It would be an act of real charity to assist Mrs. -- with her large family

P
Vicar of Kidderminster

I know the case to be a very sad & deserving one. The mother is most anxious for M to go to the Belbroughton Home if her case is accepted. I have not brought it at all before our Committee, but if there is a vacancy, I think we would take her as her people are so respectable.
