Re M.
This boy was brought before the Stockport magistrate on September 20th 1892 for stealing a horse and other articles value £14.5.0. On Oct 3rd was committed to the Boys House, Regents Park Rd. London, until he attains the age of 16. The father of the boy is strongly addicted to gambling, the mother to drink. Two of his brothers were taking by me to the Boys Home, Strongways, Manchester on Sept 10th 1892, One boy has been 5 yrs in Stockport Industrial School, and a sister has been out to a Reformatory some years ago. The answers to some of the questions on this paper were given very reluctantly by the father of the boy; who is not, in the opinion of the Police and Stockport Magistrate, a fit and proper person to have control of him. I believe the father to be well able to pay something towards the maintenance of the boy, as I believe his earnings to be at least 10/- in excess of what he has told me. He has to support himself, wife, and two children. He has a very extensive round for selling skim milk. His round extends from Stockport to Manchester, a distance of about 5 [3/2] miles.
