Dear Miss Cox,

I beg to inform you that I submitted your letter of the 9th inst. to the Executive Committee at its last Meeting, and very much regret to say that it was decided that sanction could not be given your Committee to keep W. in the Tattenhall Home. As you know, the Society only deals with children, and it would be contrary to our constitution to allow a young man of 26 to remain in one of our Homes, notwithstanding the fact that he was brought up under the Society's care. It is observed that the young fellow is in receipt of a pension of 1/- a day, and it is suggested that perhaps the members of your Committee, and friends of the Society in the neighbourhood would be prepared to inaugurate a "Samaritan Fund" for the purpose of raising sufficient to supplement his pension by a few shillings a week. By this means he would be enabled to obtain a lodging near the Sanatorium to which he has to go for treatment once a fortnight.
