Dear Madam,

I am very much obliged to you for your kind letter of the 13th inst. But I am sorry that it will not be in my power to undertake to address a meeting in your neighbourhood this year, as we are always very much pressed at Headquarters from now until after Christmas. As a matter of fact it is with great difficulty that I can spare time to attend meetings at any distance, and I have to leave such duties to my colleagues the Clerical Organising Secretaries. I would, under the circumstances, venture to suggest that you should communicate with the Rev. Johnson Barker, who is our secretary for your diocese, and I feel sure he will be only too pleased to give an address.

Thank you for drawing my attention to the matter of the older boy being now in receipt of wages. I find on referring to our books that the Society is still contributing at the rate of 5/- a week towards his support, and if he is earning 3/6 a week surely the foster mother should be content with a lower rate of payment from the Society! In view of his age, perhaps it would be as well to transfer him to one of the Society's Training Homes, as we cannot afford to continue to pay for his maintenance for a much longer period being in his 14th year, and in
