Case 4314

1. Application to Waifs and Strays' Society 31 May 1894

View the Case Summary.

I have known the family very intimately for 2 years. Mr. the father died somewhat suddenly from blood poisoning, the result of an accident, with Croydon Hospital: thus leaving Mrs. & her children quite unprovided for. Mrs. is herself far from steady, the [?] she has to get such work as she can. This means that the children, when she is away, are left to themselves or to care of neighbours; & as her boy, the candidate for home, is well behaved & brought up, she [?] right way will be to the boy's advantage; & she wishes him to be placed, if possible, in the Gordon Boy's Home in Croydon.

The Vicar of Croydon (Rev. P.) [?] & recommends the case.
