Dear Madam,

In reply to your letter of the 23rd instant, I have to inform you that the asylum is for pauper patients chargeable to the Unions or Parishes within the Metropolitan Poor Law area. In order to gain admission for a patient, application should be made in the first instance to the Clerk to the Guardians of the Union or Parish to which the patient is chargeable into Tooting Bec Asylum, with a request that he afterwards be transferred to Darenth.

Yours faithfully
(sgd.) A. Rotherham

Miss F.S. Williams.
