Case 602414. Copy letter to the National Council of Social Service 12 August 1941View the Case Summary.
Girls' Welfare. Dear Sir, We have been advised to write to you by the Rev. Mother General of St. John Baptist Convent, Clewer, Windsor, regarding the following matter:- We ourselves have recently been approached by a Mrs. B of , Mount Road, Cranleigh, Surrey, for help with an old servant, aged 63 who was for years in Mrs. B's mother's service. Miss -- is an old girl of our Society, and Mrs. B has written to ask if we can get her back into one of our Homes. Unfortunately we have no Homes for cases of this type, as our work is with the children. Miss -- is in receipt of the Old Age Pension, and so there would be something towards her keep. Mrs. B tells us that Miss --'s health is good, but she is a cripple, walking with sticks, due to hip trouble that she has had from a child. May I ask whether you have any Home where you can take a case of this nature. We should be very grateful for your kind help in the matter. We should like Miss -- to have a happy home, as she worked for ten years at our St. Martin's & St. Nicholas' Hospital, Pyrford, and also at St. Agnes Home, Croydon, where she was for many years. She has very happy recollections of both these Homes. AHP /P.T.O.
