re G
I am obliged to you for your letter respecting the above case. As regards the little lad in question, he is now in his 13th year, it is felt that the time has come when he should be placed under the care of a Master. As you are aware, our Knebworth Cottage Home is only intended for quite little boys, and there is only a Matron in charge, and it is customary, therefore, on a boy attaining the age of 12 or 13, to transfer him to a larger Home, where the discipline and training are a little more exacting. Unfortunately, we have no vacancies available in any of our Homes nearer London, so that, as one or two of the other elder boys were leaving Knebworth, it was deemed advisable that they should all be transferred together to our Home at Dolgellau. I presume the mother's circumstances are not such as will enable her to have her son at home, as apparently the elder children are now doing something for themselves, and she has no one actually dependent on her? The present arrangement being that the boy should be sent to London on Friday next, if the mother absolutely
