Dear Miss Wilkinson
re C

I submitted Mrs. Straker's application on behalf of the above boy to the Committee yesterday, when it was decided to defer the case in order to ascertain why the application was not also made on behalf of the elder boy F, who is also apparently in the Workhouse? Further the Committee desire to know if the Guardians have been asked to contribute towards the boy's support in the event of his being taken out of the Workhouse? It does not seem right that they should be relieved entirely of their responsibility, and as perhaps you are aware Boards of Guardians have the power to contribute towards the support of children taken from their respective districts, provided they are placed in Homes certified under the Local Government Board. I thought it better to write to you on the matter, rather than to Mrs. S direct. Will you kindly let me hear from you respecting the points raised by the Committee, and I will then bring the case forward for further consideration?
With all good wishes for a happy Xmas.
I remain,

Yours sincerely
Sgd. E de M R
