[9378] (aged 13 6/12 years) & [10253] (9 2/12) went to fetch the milk for the Home, and being left alone in the shop for a short time, they stole 30/ from a drawer there. The theft was soon discovered & suspicion fell on these boys, but the absolutely denied all knowledge of it, to the Hicks, & again to the policeman ; and it was only on Saturday morning that the younger boy's boldness gave way when examined by the Police Sargent & he confessed & showed where the money was concealed. The boys have to go before the Magistrates tomorrow - I hope we shall succeed in keeping the matter out of the local paper, but of course the whole village heard of the occurrence. -- is without doubt the more guilty of the two. He is the elder & has been in the Home just over 2 years. There was nothing at all against his character until
