Case 9350

8. Letter from the Tattenhall Home requesting C's removal because he had been caught stealing 2 April 1905

View the Case Summary.

W has been in the House 10 months I do not consider that he is a bad boy, but very weak & easily led astray. The third case I have to bring before you is that of C (12 years) who came to us from the S. Aidan's Home, Whitley in August last. After he came we heard that he had been guilty of several very serious thefts there; for a time he did much better with us, but for some months there has been trouble about his stealing the village children's dinners at school, & a few days ago, he stole some money out of the jacket of one of the mistresses, which she had left hanging in the school room. I am less hopeful about him then about the other two, & -- was put up to stealing by an elder boy, and -- has only lately shown the tendency to dishonesty, and the shock of the discovery & disgrace may check it in him, but I fear -- is a regular thief. I am so grieved to have to send so bad a report of our boys, just after you visit to the Home when all seemed so satisfactory. All this trouble came out on Friday.

Yours sincerely
Adelah Joyce
