C/F.C.
Dear Sir,
re A.

I have still to thank you for your letter of the 9th inst, and for kindly offering to find [work] for the above named lad in your Workhouse after the close of the present year, if necessary. With your permission, however, the Society will continue the charge of A. for at any rate for a few weeks after Christmas, free of cost to the Guardians, in order to make a final effort to secure a suitable situation for him. He has proved himself well worthy of special consideration, and were it not for his unfortunate deformity he would have taken an excellent situation some months ago. The Society is therefore most anxious to endeavour to provide for him satisfactorily without falling back upon the Workhouse, if at all possible, and I need hardly say that, if any member of the Board can use his influence with a view to finding a place for the lad, I shall be very grateful.

I note the Guardians' contribution in the case will discontinue/

Overwritten in black: Arranged verbally with Mr Stevens to keep boy free of charge for the present; he is (with one or two others) the mainstay of the Tailor's Shop, & cannot well be spared just now.
