Dear Miss Peter,
re A.

Thank you for your further letter of the 19th inst. I have also heard from our Superintendent at Islington, and it appears that the above lad's present wooden leg was only purchased in April of last year, so I fear I cannot well ask the Guardians interested, who paid for the same, to help with the cost of the new instrument suggested. As, however, your Doctor is of opinion that the present leg is bad for the boy's spine, we will do our best to supply him with a new cork one if it can be arranged without drawing upon the Society's funds.

The suggestion as to utilising Surgical Aid Society "Letters" is an excellent one, and I think I can promise you considerable assistance in this way by writing to subscribers to that Society who also support our work. Before doing this, however, it will be necessary for me to obtain special leave from the Surgical Aid to approach their subscribers in this way, and I am therefore writing to the Secretary accordingly. I hope to/
