Case 949846. Copy letter from Revd Edward Rudolf to the Surgical Aid Society asking for permission to approach some of their subscribers for "Letters" [of recommendation worth 5/- each] on behalf of A. 22 March 1911View the Case Summary.
22nd March, 1911. C/F.C. I am again venturing to solicit the kind help of your Society, by granting me the necessary permission to approach some of your subscribers for "Letters" on behalf of the above named lad, who is a cripple with only one leg. Since 1903 he has been under our care, and last month was placed in a situation with a tailor in Devonshire. He is badly in need of a new cork leg, which I am informed will cost about £9; there are no relatives able to help, the lad himself is only earning a small amount as pocket money, and our funds are severely strained and quite unable to meet this heavy additional expenditure. I shall, therefore, be very grateful if you can give me the required permission, and perhaps you will also let me know whether I shall be right in asking the lad's employer in Devonshire to obtain an estimate from a local instrument maker, in order to forward the same to you? Thanking you in anticipation, and with many thanks for/ Overwritten in pencil: Copy
