Case 949856. Copy letter to the Devizes Union asking if they would contribute towards the cost of the leg 10 May 1911View the Case Summary.
10th May, 1911. C/F.C. I hope you will not mind my troubling you further regarding the above named boy, who you will remember the Society placed in a situation in February last, but I am venturing to write and ask whether your Board can kindly see its way to contribute the sum of £2.10/- towards the cost of a special cork leg required by the lad. I should mention that the full cost of the leg will amount to £7.10/-, but I secured the permission of the Surgical Aid Society to approach some of its subscribers for "Letters" for use on A.'s behalf, and after some trouble I am glad to say I have obtained 15, which, being worth 5/- each, represent the sum of £3.15/- (half the sum required). If, therefore, your Board will contribute £2.10/-, the Society will advance the remaining £1.5/-, which the lad can repay out of his wages, in small instalments. This it is only right he should/ Overwritten in pencil: Copy
