Case 949859. Copy letter to Miss Peter concerning arrangements for paying for the leg 26 May 1911View the Case Summary.
26th May, 1911. C/F.C. I am glad to inform you that I have now been able to complete the arrangements for supplying the above named lad with the cork leg required. The full cost of the same through the Surgical Aid Society will be £7.10/-, and I think I can promise him 15 "Letters" which I have collected from subscribers; these, being worth 5/- each, represent a sum of £3.15/- (half the sum required ). I have also approached the Poor Law Guardians who formerly helped with the cost of A.'s support, and they have now promised to contribute £2.10/-, leaving a balance of £1.5/-, which I propose should be made up by the lad in small instalments out of his wages. I shall be glad to hear if you think he can manage this, and if you can kindly arrange for A. to pay a few shillings each month through yourself, to be included in your remittances to Headquarters. The cork leg is now being proceeded with and will soon/ Overwritten in black: Note given to Mr Newton re cheque for £3.18/-
