ACCOUNTS/R.W.
Dear Sir,

I am sending a receipt for the contribution received this morning, with grateful thanks, I must confess to having made a rather serious slip in applying for twelve months payment for A., as I find he was placed out with Mr. G., Tailor, Holsworthy, Devon, on the 6th February, last. It is our practice to enter all discharges in a special book in which is also shown the names of those who contribute towards the maintenance of the case. In the case of --, the discharge was duly entered, but the Devizes Guardians, only, (who contribute towards his support) were shown, your payment being omitted. Thus a note of the discharge did not reach the clerk in charge of the payments register, in consequence of which he sent the application. If you so desire, I will return the money overpaid, but having regard to the fact, that at no time was A. fully supported, and that the Society has been put to considerable expenses on his behalf in providing a cork leg etc, as well as a service outfit, we shall be
P.T.O.
