Case 9662

7. Copy letter to Miss Stancliffe pointing out difficulties with her proposals for L's future 28 December 1909

View the Case Summary.

necessary for No. 8 of the rules on the accompanying leaflet to be rigidly adhered to as in consequence of limited funds the Society is quite unable to retain the responsibility for the maintenance of its children (as a rule) when they reach the age at which they could become dependent on their own exertions. Will you be so good as to take an early opportunity of presenting this view of the matter to the local committee of the Home in order that the future of L may be provided for at an early date. It is a serious question as to whether the Society's friends can wisely undertake to guarantee the sum at least 8s.6d. a week for the maintenance of the poor girl as apparently the liability for the contribution would not cease until her death. These terms are (I understand) those required by the authorities of Miss Bartholomew's Home at Clapton. Regretting that you should be having so much trouble in this particular case.
With the Compliments of the Season,
I remain,

Yours Sincerely,
E de M R

Miss Stancliffe
Mirfield
