Chiswick Receiving Home
Chiswick Receiving HomeChiswick, London (1939 - 1940) There is very little information about the Chiswick Receiving Home. It is assumed that the Home opened at the outbreak of the Second World War but closed shortly afterwards as it was no longer required. Receiving Homes provided temporary accommodation (of about four to six weeks) for children prior to their being boarded out or being sent to other Homes. During this time any infections diseases or other problems would be identified. Children would be provided with clothes prior to their departure. |
