Rudolf Memorial Home for Babies, Dulwich

Dulwich, London

(1945 - 1948)

Before the Second World War Lampson House had been the site of the Rudolf Memorial Special School for Girls, but the residents were evacuated in 1939 when the building was requisitioned for civil defence use.

At the end of the war in 1945 the building was reopened and its function altered to meet the changing needs of the time. The Rudolf Memorial Home for Babies awaiting adoption opened in 1945 and existed for three years. It was then converted once again, in order to accommodate children with behavioural difficulties.

After undergoing alterations the building reopened as the Rudolf Memorial Special School in 1950.
