St Edith's Home for Girls, Exeter

Exeter, Devon

(1939-1942)

There is very little information available about this Home owing to the Second World War and the Home's short duration.

In 1939 residents were evacuated to Exeter from St Edith's Home for Girls, Fareham. There was a further evacuation in 1942 to St Edith's Home for Girls, Paignton, and then to Sampford Peverill, Devon, until 1946. The decision was made following a heavy bombing raid on Exeter during which the Home was only slightly damaged.
