Sherwood Nursery, Henley On Thames

Henley On Thames, Oxfordshire

(1944 - 1950)

Sherwood Nursery was purchased in 1944 and opened in the same year with 28 babies. The new nursery was part of a move by the Society to address the problem of increasing births rates and abandoned babies at the end of the Second World War.

Rooms were named Robin Hood, Merrie Men, Little John and Will Scarlett. The Oxfordshire Medical Officer for Health visited shortly after the nursery opened and complimented the Matron on her lay-out, equipment and staffing arrangements.

Sherwood Nursery closed in 1950.
