Friar's House Home, Ipswich

Ipswich, Suffolk

(1952 - 1972)

Friar's Home for Girls (which was originally established in 1886) was taken over in 1952 by The Children's Society and repairs and alterations were made to modernise the building. The Home came to be known as Friar's House Home for Girls. The original Committee and local supporters continued to act 'on the Society's behalf'.

In 1953 the Home accommodated 17 girls aged 5-16. The Home was closed in 1972 and the building converted for use as Friar's House Hostel for Teenagers.
