St John's Home, Palgrave

Palgrave, Diss, Suffolk

(1955 - 1970)

The building of St John's was bequeathed to the Society in 1955 by the late Miss Goodrich who had lived in the house with her sisters for 'many years'. The residents of Gordon House Home, Croydon were transferred to the Home after alterations and improvements were carried out. The Home backed onto a farm and was surrounded by fields and a large garden.

In 1970 the Home closed after it was decided the building was in too remote a location to function properly as a Residential Care Home. Residents were dispersed to suitable Society Homes.
