Case 104. Letter from Miss Clark 12 April 1882View the Case Summary.
The servants tell me so & she generally goes with them. She was confirmed in [hos] & before as a [?] communicant. but she told me she had not come since just before her first theft. I am pretty sure however she is wrong in this. I said (for I had been talking to her on Saturday about the Easter Communion) did [?] mean, to come M. I should have confessed to God, she said. And kept your stolen money & used it. Would that be the kind of confession He could receive. I tell you all these details, for you must have had long experience with the beginnings of theft & will be able to judge best what to do with her. I am sure she should not remain here. Mrs. S. could not keep her at home without occupation, we could not send her back to school again without the whole village knowing.
