27th August, 1931. Dear Madam, I submitted your letter of the 18th July to my Committee at their last Meeting [tho] I regret to say that, as I am sure you understand, all our available funds are needed in these difficult times to maintain the children at present in residence. E's case is a sad one and I have this morning mentioned it to the Hon. Secretary of "Our Girls' Friendship League". This is a League composed of old girls of the Society, and they do what they can to help one another in sickness or trouble. The Hon. Secretary has very kindly given the enclosed grant of two guineas, from the Funds of the League which it is hoped
