Case 8473

The child J, was born in Cannock Workhouse and remained there with his mother for several years : the child's father deserted the mother before the birth of her child. The mother L has for several years been trying to support herself & her child by acting as domestic servant. She really could not do this; but owing to the kindness of charitably disposed persons she has managed hitherto to keep herself & child respectably dressed, and the child has been well cared for, and appears to be healthy & strong
