the oldest and my funds have [?] diminished in various directions I have had painfully to decide between a variety of claims, each of wh seemed more urgent than the others, & last quarter day had to advance [?] £6 or £7 out of my own pocket, to [?] the cheques for the younger children. Had I money or any prospect of getting it, nothing wd be [sweeter] to me than to support the poor invalid child until she is fit to do some thing for herself. as it is I am entirely unable to do so, and as I doubt not yr funds are as much strained as mine the only thing I can request
